Lab Café: Intelligence and Sensitivity Network Series -- On the Forefront of Medical Research: Error-ridden Cancer Screenings

2015-3-19 (Thu) 19:00 - 21:00

Due to advances in medical science, there are quite a few cancers of the digestive system that can be "cured" if detected in the early stages. For this seminar, we've invited a digestive tract specialist, researcher, writer, and provider of some of the best healthcare in Japan Dr. KONDO Shintaro to talk about the knowledge necessary when it comes to surviving treatable cancers. We'll also examine the importance of a shared awareness of our knowledge of medical science.

What is Lab Café?

A major program instituted at Art Area B1, "Lab Café" is designed and implemented by the Center for the Study of Communication-Design. Lab Café is an interactive program in which participants have wide-ranging discussions on a variety of topics. The program aims to make the station a communication space in the arts and academia by taking up various themes in philosophy, art, science and technology and providing the general public with chances to be exposed to expertise on those topics.

What is Art Area B1?

The concourse of the first basement of Naniwabashi Station was set up as Art Area B1 when the Keihan Electric Railway's Nakanoshima Line was opened on October 19, 2008. Since then, the project has aimed to make the station a center of artistic communication.
