Kaitokudo for the 21st Century, Osaka University i-spot Lecture -- Smoother Movement by a New You

2015-3-20 (Fri) 18:30 - 20:00

Osaka University and Osaka City have been working togther to provide citizens with small lectures in an "at home" atmosphere. Making use of its wide range of academic fields, Osaka University promotes the sharing of its learning with citizens, thereby contributing to the revitalization of local communities. The themes for these two i-spot lecture series are "Fragility of Today's Society" and "Inquiry into the Subconscious." It's free to attend, so please don't hesitate to join us!

Lecture: "Smoother Movement by a New You,"  KADOTA Koji (Assistant Professor, Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University)

Lecture Overview:

Take a moment to think about your body. Is it really moving exactly how you want it to move? You might think that because it's your body, it's obviously going to do exactly what you want it to do. But if you really think about it, it's actually quite difficult to remember exactly how you move your body during daily life in activities such as changing your clothes and riding your bicycle. In other words, most of the movements we make in our daily lives are made unconsciously, and are seemingly made independently of our will. In this lecture, we'll investigate the structure of our unconsciously moving bodies. (Part of this research has received scientific research funding (No. 50557220 and No. 24240085).)
