Osaka University and Osaka City have been working togther to provide citizens with small lectures in an "at home" atmosphere. Making use of its wide range of academic fields, Osaka University promotes the sharing of its learning with citizens, thereby contributing to the revitalization of local communities. The themes for these two i-spot lecture series are "Fragility of Today's Society" and "Inquiry into the Subconscious." It's free to attend, so please don't hesitate to join us!

Lecture: Projection Mapping that Stimulates the Senses

Lecturer: Associate Professor IWAI Daisuke (Graduate School of Engineering Science, Osaka University)

Lecture Overview:

In the past, you may have seen large images projected on the sides of building for various events and other purposes. This is what is called "projection mapping," and it's the theme of this lecture. Through projection mapping, we can freely change the appearance of our surroundings and the shape, transparency, and texture of things that we perceive. In this lecture, we'll get an introduction to this kind of sensory-stimulating projection mapping, and also examine the ways that projection mapping can improve our daily lives. (This research has received a partial scientific research grant (No.: 22135003 and 25540083).)
