Lecture: "Opening Up to People with Special Needs" -- IIDA Tadasu (Instructor, Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University)

Lecture Overview:

Nowadays, because of increased accessibility eliminating barriers to public transportation, we can see an increase in the number of people using wheelchairs to get around town. Expanding the daily lives of those with special needs into town is a huge step to realizing a more equal society. However, it's still not enough. The workplaces and support facilities that those with special need to go to and from each day are still relatively closed off, leaving them disconnected from the region. But there are efforts to open the region to those with special needs. In this lecture, we'll introduce a few of these efforts, while discussing the challenges and significance of such endeavors.

This lecture is part of the series entitled "The Fragility of Today's Society."
