OSIPP International Symposium: Racism and Intolerance in the Age of Globalisation

2015-2-23 (Mon) 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

In today’s increasingly globalised society, human mobility has reached an unprecedented level. Although this may have benefited us with cultural diversity and interconnectedness, it has also brought about racism, discrimination, xenophobia and intolerance. In the near future it is likely that Japan will face large-scale fundamental social diversity. Yet Japan’s policies to tackle these matters are insufficient. This symposium invites leading scholars and practitioners from Europe with the aim to learn from the European experience. By understanding policy developments in Europe, we hope to foresee the future policy needs in Japan.
