For this symposium, researchers from Vanderbilt University (USA) have been invited to exchange opinions about the construction of information infrastructure necessary for promoting safe and high-quality clinical research and enhancing international competitiveness.
Regarding the construction of information infrastructure for an academia data center, participants will discuss with Paul Harris, a developer of the Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap), about the establishment, management, and future outlook of the Japan REDCap Consortium.
(REDCap, the electronic data compilation system, has become a world standard in the academic circle.)

He will introduce a variety of data-related tools such as a system for using electronic medical chart data on a real time basis and a system for recruiting subjects that were developed by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) and are used at Vanderbilt University. He will also talk about the current situation and future outlook of the NIH that developed the information infrastructure.
Yu Shyr, Director, Vanderbilt Technologies for Advanced Genomics Analysis and Research Design, will talk about a clinical research information system using genomic data including omics and next-generation sequence. The Vanderbilt Technologies for Advanced Genomics Analysis and Research Design has a system integrating 200,000 people's genomic data with their electronic chart data.
In order to promote clinical trials and genomic epidemiology research, this symposium will offer a forum for discussing the role of the Japan Medical Academia Data Center with researchers in and out of Japan. The organizers look forward welcoming many to this seminar.
Registration is needed.
