Handai-Asahi Nakanoshima Juku: Amusing Japanese Linguistics -- Honorific Expressions

The Handai-Asahi Nakanoshima Juku offers courses produced and sponsored by Osaka University and the Asahi Culture Center. The Handai-Asahi Nakanoshima Juku was established at the time [Osaka University's] Nakanoshima Center was built in 2004.

These courses share results of research conducted at Osaka University with the general public in an easy-to-understand format. In these lectures, leading lecturers give presentations on topics in culture, art, history, science, technology, health care, as well as seasonal and current topics.

When speaking and writing, one needs to pay attention to how to use honorific expressions. Do you often wonder whether a given expression is right or wrong? Do you sometimes feel uncomfortable about how to use such expressions? Are you curious about how others may use honorific expressions? Which way is the right way? The Guidelines for Using Honorific Expressions issued by the Council for Cultural Affairs on February 2, 2007, are used when thinking about the use of honorific expressions. Please join us and confirm your knowledge about these expressions.
