Labo Café / Nakanoshima Philosophy College -- "Whose duty is it to take care of the elderly?"

2014-12-16 (Tue) 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

The increasing numbers of old people has become a serious problem in the advanced countries, particularly in Japan, the first country in the world to become a super aging society. We of the Japan-the Netherlands Student Conference invited Dutch students and held discussions, informing each other about the current situation regarding the increasing numbers of old people in our respective countries. In this café, while comparing the similarities and differences we learned about our two countries, we'd like to think together with you about the aging of a nation's population, especially nursing care for the old.

Guests: Japan-the Netherlands Student Conference members

Café Master: MATSUKAWA Eri, Specially Appointed Researcher, CSCD

Jointly Sponsored by: Japan-the Netherlands Student Conference, Café Philo

What is Lab Café?

A major program instituted at Art Area B1 is the "Lab Café," designed and implemented by the Center for the Study of Communication-Design. The Lab Café is an interactive program in which participants have wide-ranging discussions on a variety of topics. The program aims to make the station a communication space in the arts and academia by taking up various themes in philosophy, art, science and technology and providing the general public with chances to be exposed to expertise on those topics.
