Basic Seminar -- Transmission Electron Microscope

A seminar (an educational lecture) is going to be held on the transmission electron microscope for persons who'd like to gain an understanding of the electron microscope. Whether you're a beginner or someone with experience in the using an electron microscope, please take advantage of this chance and attend.

The program for this seminar is as follows:

  • Date & Time: Thursday, November 13 -- 10:00 a.m. ~ 12:00 noon

  • Program intended for: Persons who intend to begin using TEM, regardless of experience.
  • Seating available for: 70

Topics to be covered in the seminar:

  • The history of microscopes
  • The electron microscope -- types of electron microscopes and what electron microscopes can (and cannot) do.
  • The structure of the transmission electron microscope and its operating principle
  • Operating procedures, conditions required for TEM viewing -- contrast, sample staining and preparation for observation, focus, adjustment of the electron beam and voltage, aberration correction
  • Question and Answer
