Reading Session on just 2 pages #3 --What is dialogue? -- Viewed by clinical philosophy and sustainability science

2014-9-10 (Wed) 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Reading Session on just 2 pages -- The road to Scholarship starts from the two-page spread

This is a program for sharing research results at Osaka University with participants. In the expectation that a reading session will help researchers at Osaka University to come up with new ideas about research through communication with participants, and as part of the Program for Promoting the Improvement of Research Universities sponsored by MEXT, the Administrative Office for Large-Scale Education and Research Projects is holding a reading session #3 on Wednesday, September 10.

Reading Session #3: What is dialogue? -- Viewed from clinical philosophy and sustainability science

Guests:

  • MATSUKAWA Eri, Specially Appointed Researcher, Center for the Study of Communication-Design, Osaka University
  • HARA Keishiro, Specially Appointed Associate Professor, Center for Environmental Innovation Design for Sustainability, Osaka University

Don't you think that we have greater opportunity to hear the word dialogue in occasions when people talk about business, town planning, or science and technology? University researchers often set up forums for dialogue. Contrary to chatting or discussing, what is the meaning and power of dialogue in society? This reading session will introduce two books about sustainability science and clinical philosophy which put emphasis, when putting research into practice, on connections and having dialogue with people from different backgrounds. How about joining us to listen to two researchers and their different approaches to dialogue and consider the ways in which dialogue shapes society.
