22nd Osaka University Medical Engineering and Informatics Symposium

2013-12-7 (Sat) 1:30 p.m. - 4:55 p.m.

The 22nd Osaka University Medical Engineering and Informatics Symposium -- "For Students studying Medical Engineering and Informatics -- The Promotion of Personnel Development, International Exchange, and the Dissemination of Culture through Regional Partnerships"

A highly advanced society undergoing rapid change needs to have diversified personnel. Globalization has become a great trend in advanced education and personnel development as shown in the standardization of education throughout the world. In such a setting, society needs a place where young people can learn to their heart's content, maximizing their abilities.

To this end, educational institutes, public organizations, and industry need to make use of their strong points and strengthen the development of personnel in the local communities. This will lead to local revitalization.

Various efforts for local revitalization are being made throughout the nation. We in the Kansai region need to consider and develop our approaches by making use of our region's strengths. Thus far, aiming for an advanced welfare society, we have been involved in many unique education and research activities regarding clinical engineering, information science, medical technology, and drug development in cooperation with local communities.

In this symposium, based on reports on international exchange, education and personnel development activities by the MEI Center, and later participants will even discuss future development and challenges.
