These courses share results of research conducted at Osaka University with the general public in an easy-to-understand format. In these lectures, leading lecturers give presentations on topics in culture, art, history, science, technology, health care, as well as seasonal and current topics.

Date & Time: Monday, December 16, 2013 -- 1:30 ~ 3:00 p.m.

Tuition fee: ¥1,575

Lecturer: KINSUI Satoshi, Professor, Graduate School of Letters, Osaka University

Going further back in time than the previous lecture "The Osaka Dialect? We'll get around to that.... The changing Osaka dialect" on September 30, this lecture will take a look at the roots of Osaka dialect. When did typical Osakan affixes such as "~ya", "~nen", "~hen", "~dasu", and "~omaus" start to be used? This lecture will look into this issue, making use of materials such as literary works, bunraku puppet plays, kabuki performances, rakugo comic stories, and manzai stand-up comedies. If you attend this lecture, you may become able to recognize if an actor's way of speaking in a period drama is historically authentic or not.

To make application, go to the Asahi Culture Center website.
