At plenary sessions and committee meetings in the Diet, uncommon expressions that people don't use in their daily conversation are used. About 66 years have passed since the first Diet session on June 23, 1947. When looking into minutes in the Diet, we can see some expressions such as phrases ending with "masuru," which is no longer used.
Furthermore, we can see phrases ending with "mitaina [sort of]", "to iufuuni omoimasu [I think in this way)]", or "surebana to omoimasu. [I think it would be better if ...]."
There are some new roundabout expressions such as "toiu katachi de [in the form of]" and "tokorode gozaimasu [be in the process of ]."
This lecture will take a look at these expressions using the Diet minutes search system.
