Electron Microscope School

2013-11-19 (Tue) -

The Research Center for Ultra-high Voltage Electron Microscopy is offering a series of lessons about electron microscopes that will include practice in actual use of an electron microscope.

Osaka University's Research Center for Ultra-high Voltage Electron Microscopy, in keeping with the Technology Platform & Micro-structure Analysis Platform directives of Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), is holding this "Electron Microscope School" (with joint sponsorship from the Joint-use Research Committee of The Research Center for Ultra-high Voltage Electron Microscopy).

The intended students for these lessons are researchers at OU and elsewhere, particularly doctoral candidates in the second half of their doctoral studies, individuals who hope to get involved in research using electron microscopes in materials, device engineering, and life sciences and for whom using an electron microscope for analysis of microscopic structures will be a necessity.

Lessons will be offered in the topics noted below. Please indicate the lessons you would like to enroll in on your application.

A. Preparation of materials and test samples

B. Basic techniques for electron microscopy of [material] samples

C. Techniques for high resolution electron microscopy of materials

D. Preparation of tissue samples

E. Basic techniques for electron microscopy of tissues

F. Tomographic techniques for tissues
