There is no charge for attending this seminar; however, application in advance is required. Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To make application, send an email entitled "Application to attend" to Include your (1) name, (2) affiliation, (3) email address, and (4) whether you will attend an after-seminar get-together (from 9:00 p.m. near JR Nada Station). The deadline for applications is October 10.

A lecture will be held in reference to GLOCOL's experience in implementing SATREPS in Vietnam in "Determine the Outbreak Mechanisms and Development of a Monitoring System at Food Administration for Multi-drug Resistant Bacteria." Also to be covered are the relationship between problems posed and community, "global issues," the way research projects and ODA application rules should be, and so forth.

SATREPS (Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development) is jointly implemented by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and is engaged in 3- to 5-year research projects for solving global issues through joint research between developing countries and Japan.

Lecturer: SUMIMURA Yoshinori, Associate Professor, GLOCOL. Professor Sumimura specializes in cultural anthropology and Southeast Asian research. He has two Master's degrees: Human Science and Science. In SATREPS, he is a group leader in the anthropology group and also personnel training group.
