5th Exhibition of Large Crocodiles and Dinosaurs -- the 230-Million-Year Battle of Large Reptiles

2012-4-7 (Sat) - 2012-6-30 (Sat)

The 5th Exhibition of Large Crocodiles and Dinosaurs -- the 230-Million-Year Battle of Large Reptiles will be held from Saturday, April 7 through Saturday, June 30 at the Museum of Osaka University.

The fossils of Machikane crocodiles are attracting worldwide attention. What were the ancestors of the Machikane crocodile like? Did they fight dinosaurs? The Exhibition of Large Crocodiles and Dinosaurs will introduce the evolution of crocodiles and the conflict between them and dinosaurs, tracing the conflict back to about 230 million years ago.

The worlds of the North America continent 150 million years ago (the late Jurassic period), the Gondwana super continent about 100 million years ago (mid-Cretaceous period), and North America and Asia about 7 million years ago when the dinosaurs died off (the end of the Cretaceous period) will be recreated at the Museum of Osaka University. In this exhibition, about 50 fossils of large crocodiles and dinosaurs will be on display, some of which are being displayed for the first time in Osaka.
