Environmental Innovation through University and Community Cooperation

2012-3-27 (Tue) 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Symposium jointly sponsored by Suita City and Osaka University's Center for Environmental Innovation Design for Sustainability (CEIDS)

In order to solve environmental energy problems, the importance of cooperative action on many fronts and of making progress at the local level has become increasingly critical. In this symposium, Suita City and Osaka University, working together, aim to devise a shared understanding regarding environmental energy problems and the construction of a sustainable society and take a look at the challenges facing community-level cooperation on solving such problems.

More specifically, Osaka University will introduce measures it has taken toward reducing energy consumption on its campuses and extensive research and education in the arts and sciences pertaining to the making of a sustainable society. Meanwhile, Suita city will introduce current government-university cooperative policies and trends in the creation of more sustainable communities. Discussion will also center on possibilities for advancing university-community cooperation regarding environmental innovation.
