Simulated Budget Screening by Graduate Students

2011-12-22 (Thu) 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Osaka University students and general citizens are invited to consider how our taxes ought to be spent and administered at this seminar on Thursday, December 22. Thanks to cooperation from the secretariat of the Government Revitalization Unit and leadership from rising financial scholars as well as Professor Akai's International Public Policy seminar course graduate students, a publicly simulated budget screening will be conducted. Please join us in taking a look at the items one by one and thinking together!

Members of the screening team
  • MANABE Masashi, Associate Professor, University of Hyogo
  • HOSOI Masayo, Associate Professor, Otemon Gakuin University
  • KURAMOTO Takashi, Lecturer, Konan University
  • Seminar course students, Professor Nobuo AKAI's seminar, Osaka School of International Public Policy
  •  Staff members of the Government Revitalization Unit, Cabinet Office

This publicly simulated budget screening will be conducted in order to assist graduate students in becoming cognizant of national projects that underwent such screening and stimulate their thinking about the administrative role of government. This simulated screening will deal with the process of governmental budget screenings in the past as an instructional technique; it will not deal with topics such as which projects should have been canceled but were not.
