WORKSHOP: Thinking about the Education of TCKs

2011-11-6 (Sun) 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The Global Collaboration Center (GLOCOL) will hold a workshop "Thinking about the Education of Third Culture Kids (TCKs)" on Sunday, November 6. (Note: TCKs are commonly referred to as "transnational children" in Japanese; however, TCK is the standard appellation in English.)
Currently a large number of TCKs reside in Japan. TCKs are children who have lived a major portion of their formative years outside the culture(s) of their parents. (For a more detailed definition, this is a good starting point.)

In this workshop, researchers and persons with experience in working with TCKs will meet in order to exchange information as well as practical proposals for more effectively dealing with and reducing the challenges faced both by society and such children.
Venue: Seminar Room 2, Student Commons, 2F, Education and Research Building I, Institute for Higher Education Research and Practice.

Seating space is limited at the venue: 20 (on a first-come, first-served basis)

Eligibility: Individuals who are involved in practical activities in school, NPO, local community, or municipal government are invited to participate in this event. Participants must participate in all the programs from 2:00 ~ 6:00 p.m.
