11th Kaitokudo for the 21st Century Archive Lecture

2011-11-29 (Tue) 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The 11th Kaitokudo for the 21st Century Archive Lecture will be held on Tuesday, November 29. As reported in the evening edition of the June 20th Yomiuri Newspaper, the Picture of Quails with a poem by NAKAI Riken and a haiku poem by UEDA Akinari praising quails, missing for 77 years, has been found. The picture's owner recently donated the picture to Kaitokudo for the 21st Century. This picture is the only evidence thus far showing communication between Riken and Akinari. They differed regarding the existence of unnatural phenomena, but they were very alike -- they liked living in seclusion and repeatedly moved. Their poems praising the quail are of great interest as quails symbolize the lack of a permanent address.

This picture with poems is being put on display for the public for the first time. The mystery of the picture will be clarified from two points -- the poems and picture. In addition to this picture, materials regarding NAKAI Riken possessed by the Kaitokudo for the 21st Century library will be introduced.

Persons interested in attending are encouraged to apply: Applications will be accepted by email, phone, fax, or postcard.
