Seminar -- Support for Victims of Great East Japan Earthquake by International NGOs

The Global Collaboration Center (GLOCOL) of Osaka University, JICA Osaka, and National Museum of Ethnology will hold the seminar "Support for Victims of Great East Japan Earthquake by International NGOs" on Wednesday, September 14.

The Nippon International Cooperation for Community Development (NICCO) was established in order to support Cambodia refugees about 30 years ago and has been providing urgent assistance and development aid in various areas in the world.

Immediately following the Great East Japan Earthquake, NICCO started providing assistance, serving as a window for overseas assistance providers. In this seminar, Mr. Orii of NICCO, an international cooperation NGO with much experience, will report on overseas activities, comparing their activities with those of overseas organizations and speak about his impressions on receiving support in order to examine how best to provide aid.

Brief bio of Mr. ORII

Secretary-general for NICCO. Mr. Orii has worked at NICCO in Herat, Afghanistan. He has been involved in assistance to refugees in Iraq and support for victims of the Haiti Earthquake. Since he became the head of NICCO, he has been involved in the management and nurturing  personnel. He took the lead in assistance to victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
