2011-8-24 (Wed) 4:00 p.m. -

Lecture title: The Regulation of Membrane-type Matrix Metalloproteinases (MT-MMPS) in Cancers

Lecturer: SEIKI Motoharu, Professor, Division of Cancer Cell Research, The Institute of Medical Science, The University of Tokyo

Lecture outline

Cancer consists of an extracellular matrix of cancer cells and a variety of cytoma. Abnormal proliferation, invasion, metastasis of cancer cells as well as a complicated processes in cancer stem cells are caused by cellular interaction in cancer tissues. It is thought that there is a cooperative balance relation peculiar to cancer tissues. We are looking for important molecules related to cancer tissue regulation in Membrane-type 1 Matrix Metalloproteinase (MT1-MMP) to develop new cancer tissue control methods. In this seminar, part of our achievements will be introduced.

Students enrolled in a master's course of the Graduate School of Medicine can receive academic credit for attending this seminar.
