Workshop -- Basics of Chinese Classics for Librarians

2011-3-24 (Thu) 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Osaka University libraries will hold a workshop regarding the handling of Chinese classics for librarians on Thursday, March 24.

Osaka University libraries have a large number of Chinese classics such as the Kaitokudo Collection and Ishihama Collection. However, librarians with experience in handling Chinese classics are rare and quite a few librarians have never handled them. Fundamentally, a librarian needs to be familiar with all books in a library. If the number of librarians capable of handling and caring for Chinese classics decreases, library services will suffer.

In this workshop, participants will be able to familiarize themselves with and improve their knowledge of Chinese classics -- for example, how to organize and classify them, as well as  care for and properly store them.

We hope for full attendance.
