7th General Education Forum

2011-1-28 (Fri) 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The Institute for Higher Education Research and Practice will hold its 7th General Education Forum on Friday, January 28. The guest speaker is KINO Shigeru, professor of the Institute for Teaching and Learning, Ritsumeikan University. While struggling with educational renovation following the Deregulation of University Act in 1991, Professor Kino felt the necessity of reforming classes at the university. In this way, he developed some liberal arts classes and advocates interactive classes as a means to develop students' independent and active learning in place of conventional one-way instruction from teachers.

By introducing examples of classes for many students, he will discuss a paradigm shift in creating classes with students and the outlook on faculty development promoted by students.
