3rd CEIDS Seminar

2010-12-21 (Tue) 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon

Lecturer: GOTO Keiji, Manager, Environmental Policies Promotion Department,  Suita City

Lecture title: Suita City's Strategy for Environment and City Design -- The Social Responsibility of Achieving a Low-Carbon Society

The lecture will be followed by a discussion among the lecturer, faculty and students of Osaka University.

Lecture overview

Global warming, a major cause of climate change, and increased carbon dioxide concentration in the atmosphere are critical issues for human survival. Now, finding ourselves at the point of no return, how will we fulfill our obligations to protect the lives of those in future generations?

Regarding such difficult global mid-term and long-term issues, how can a small local municipal government (like Suita City) determine policies to be implemented? This seminar hopes to make us more aware of our social responsibilities as CO2 emitters and explore future courses of action.
