Deadline for Applications for Overseas Field Study Trial Program: Wednesday, December 15

Osaka University Global Collaboration Center (GLOCOL) established The Fieldwork, Internship and Experiential Learning Design Office (FIELDO) in 2010.

FIELDO is starting a new course, Overseas Field Study, in April 2011. In this course, students participate in overseas practice regarding a specific theme in small groups and actively study there. Prior to the start of the course, a trial program will be implemented. GLOCOL is seeking students to participate in this trial field study program.

Recruiting Students for the Overseas Field Study Trial Program

Countries, areas, time, and period (The schedules noted below may be modified.)

  • Palau: From late January 2011 to early February 2011 (7 days)
  • Chiangmai, Thailand: Mid-March, 2011 (approximately 10 days)
  • New York, USA: Late February, 2011 (approximately 5 days)

Participants' duties

This trial program is one of the educational programs offered by FIELDO and aims to reflect students' ideas into the overseas educational program of the Overseas Field Study Program starting in the next academic year.

Thus, participants study overseas and, after returning home, they are expected to provide their opinions and ideas to improve the program for the next year.

Participation fee: GLOCOL will bear travel and accommodation fees.

Intended for:

  • Osaka University graduate school students and undergraduate students who are going to advance to a university graduate school in 2011.
  • Students who understand that activities before and after the overseas field work are also involved in the program and are willing to provide their opinions and ideas to improve programs for the following year.

Quota: 4 for each program

The flow of program

  • Before departure: Explanation about countries and areas where the program is to be implemented, travel procedures, and guidance for safety and health.
  • Field work overseas: Participation in a predetermined program under the escorting teacher's guidance.
  • After returning home: Review lessons, prepare reports, and write opinions regarding the next year program.
