Sustainabilty Design Extension, #6

As an activity to promote sustainability, Osaka University will hold a ten-part series of extension seminars regarding sustainability on Wednesdays beginning from November 11, 2010. Individuals who take seven or more classes will receive a certificate of completion from Osaka University President WASHIDA Kiyokazu.

Individuals interested in participating in this seminar are cordially invited to make application to do so.


Sustainability of Suburban Residential Areas

The lecturers will speak about (1) the social situation of suburban areas in the Kansai region, (2) the challenges and current situations in an aging society with few children, and (3) what the suburban residential quarters of the new town Saito, currently under development, aims to achieve as well as pioneering steps that are being developed there.
Additionally, they will exchange opinions with attendees regarding town management and the participation of residents.
