32nd Graduate School of Engineering Science Courses open to the public -- "Advanced Science and Technology Creating the Future"

2010-8-4 (Wed) - 2010-8-6 (Fri)

The Graduate School of Engineering Science will hold its 32nd lectures on advanced science and technology from Wednesday, August 4 through Friday, August 6.

Many aspects in our daily life would be impossible without advanced science and technology. Moreover, science and technology have a close relationship with many aspects of our daily life. Devices and materials used in our daily lives have developed remarkably and become common household items. The rapid progress of information technology gives us a large amount of information.

Additionally, many of the mysteries of life have been unraveled and medical technology has advanced. Against the background of such developments, in order to ensure the safety and quality life, we need to increase our education and knowledge of science and technology accordingly.

At the School of Engineering Science, we receive requests for assisting society in acquiring advanced scientific knowledge. In response to such requests, the Graduate School of Engineering Science at Osaka University has conducted 31 courses open to the public since 1979. The courses have been implemented for the purpose of increasing cooperation between the university and local communities, an area tending to be neglected, and for the purpose of sharing university information with the public.

This year's seminar will be the 32nd. The seminar will introduce the results and significance of advanced science and technology, viewed from a variety of viewpoints, in creating a bright future.

There is no participation fee.
