9th Theme Exhibition at Museum of Osaka University -- The Phenomenon of ISHINHA "Roji-shiki"

2009-10-1 (Thu) - 2009-12-12 (Sat)

ISHINHA is an Osaka-based theater troupe, representative of modern Japan. Its creative activities have defied the boundaries of traditional drama since its start in 1970. ISHINHA established a unique style of performance called "Janjan Opera" in the 1990s. Their art features performances in outdoor theaters, enormous stage art, lines and dances with irregular rhythms which are integrated with and expressed in a unique world view.

Their works as comprehensive art are evaluated highly at home and abroad.

In this exhibition, the history and art works of ISHINHA will be introduced. Materials will not be simply arranged by type, but will be displayed in such a way that viewers can feel the world of Roji-shiki, a new drama scheduled to be performed this autumn.

Venue: Machikaneyama Community Center, Museum of Osaka University.

(Please note that the venue is normally closed on Sundays and national holidays. However, the venue will be open on Sunday, November 1 and Tuesday, November 3--a Sunday and national holiday respectively.)
