Behavioral Economics and Dealing with the Recession

--the prescriptions of Smith and Keynes--

First, the panelists would like to express their appreciation for the courtesy shown to their education and research at the Institute of Social and Economic Research, Osaka University.

Symposium topic: Behavioral Economics and Dealing with the Recession--the prescriptions of Smith and Keynes.

In previous symposiums, we introduced the latest behavioral economic thinking by citing specific examples. Last year one of the symposiums dealt with the topic of "Examine Excessive Self-confidence from the Economic Point of View" by taking up participation in competition and multiple debt issues as subjects in order to take a look at economics from the angle of self-confidence.

In this 6th symposium, the two lecturers will give speeches: DOME Takuo who depicts Smith as a behavioral economics scholar and ONO Yoshiyasu who brought Keynes back into modern economic thinking. In this symposium they will also discuss remedies for the current recession.

Persons interested in participating in this symposium are cordially invited to make application to do so.
