Yoruba Language Course 2009

The Research Institute for World Languages will hold a "Yoruba Language Course 2009" for young researchers interested in and wishing to do fieldwork in a geopolitically important area with ethnic problems. This is an intensive course aimed at providing students with a language proficiency level suitable for daily conversation. Individuals wishing to enroll must apply as follows.

Quota: 10

Lecturer: Olágòkè Àlàmú, a specially-appointed associate professor at the National Language Center, Nigeria & Osaka University Research Institute for World Languages

SHIOTA Katsuhiko, a specially-appointed associate professor at Osaka University Research Institute for World Languages

Course term: August 5 - 28 (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and August 12 -14)

Time: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (total: 75 hours)

Tuition fee: There is no charge for this course.

Venue: Presentation Room, 6th floor of Comprehensive Research Building, Minoh Campus, Osaka University, 8-1-1 Aomatani-higashi, Minoh, Osaka 562-8558

Note: Individuals who complete the training course will be given a certificate certifying their successful completion of the course.

How to apply

 

Eligibility: Young researchers, undergraduate students, graduate students, and individuals able to take lessons for the duration of the course.

Application: Applicants are required to fill out an application form and fax or email it. Please download the application form from the Research Institute for World Languages website.

Application period: June 1 (Mon) - July 10 (Fri) 5:00 p.m.

If the number of applicants exceeds the quota, successful applicants will be selected based on the documents submitted. In such case, all applicants will be informed of the results by July 17 (Friday).

 

Note: Individuals living far away must arrange their own accommodations for the course.
