Osaka University Alumni Reunion in Okayama

We are happy to announce that the "Osaka University Alumni Reunion" has been planned for Saturday, August 20. Homecoming Day is an event for alumni and staff from Osaka University and Osaka University of Foreign Studies to come together and deepen friendships as an "OU Family." This event has been held in Tokyo and Osaka, but this year, for the very first time, it will be held in Okayama. We hope to share the present and future of Osaka University with you and strengthen the OU network that is spreading throughout Japan. The alumni reunion will be held in a convenient location, directly connected to JR Okayama Station. We look forward to seeing many from different parts of Japan as well as the Chugoku and Shikoku regions.

Applications will be accepted online through Friday, August 5, 2016.

NEW Since we have reached capacity for the venue, we have stopped accepting applications for this event. Thank you very much for the large number of applications.
We do expect some seats to open up at the venue, so please come to the venue on the day of the event. [updated: August 8, 2016]

Lecture: "Handing over the Torch of Koan," Hideki YOSHIKAWA (Executive Vice President of Industry-University Collaboration and Hospital Management)

16:45 ~ 18:30　 Social Gathering
Fee: 3,000 yen (We will collect this fee on the day of the event. A discount will be given to students.)
Those not of legal age may not consume alcohol at this event.

Capacity: 150 (Once capacity is reached, we will no longer be taking applications.)
We will also have childcare services available, so please feel free to bring your families.
We also ask that individuals with special needs please consult with staff prior to the event.

Hideki YOSHIKAWA (Executive Vice President of Industry-University Collaboration and Hospital Management)

A 1979 graduate of Osaka University Faculty of Medicine, Executive Vice President YOSHIKAWA finished his studies at the Graduate School of Medicine at OU in 1983. After serving as a researcher at Kansas State University in the United States, he served as an orthopedics lecturer at Osaka University Faculty of Medicine, and as director of the Orthopedics Department of Osaka Medical Center for Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases. In 1999, he became a professor at the Orthopedics Department of Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine and was involved in regenerative medicine of bones and cartilagines. He served as the director of Osaka University Hospital from 2012 through 2014. He has held the position of Executive Vice President since August 2015. He became the president of the Japanese Orthopaedic Association in 2015. He received the Japanese Society for Bone and Mineral Research Distinguished Scientist Award and the Japanese Society for Biomaterials Award. His favorite phrases are "Achievements speak louder than fame" and "a place to be oneself."
