Research concerning Artificial Photosynthesis and its Future Outlook

第2回特別教授ポスターA lecture by an Osaka University Distinguished Professor will be held on Monday, March 23. The lecturer is one of the outstanding faculty members, Professor Shun-ichi FUKUZUMI at the Graduate School of Engineering.
Energy and global warming issues are big problems in the 21st century. If they are not solved now, they will become truly grave problems for future generations. What solution is it that Prof. Fukuzumi advocates that makes use of the power of chemistry? How about taking this opportunity to learn about advanced research at Osaka University?



All persons connected with OU as well as members of the general public are cordially invited to attend. Wheelchair viewing areas are available at the Convention Center, Suita campus.

What is Osaka University Distinguished Professor System?

Osaka University created the official title of "Distinguished Professor" in April 2013 in order to recognize individuals who play leading roles coupled with outstanding achievement. Currently, 13 professors at Osaka University have received the title of Distinguished Professor.

Lecturer: FUKUZUMI Shun-ichi, Distinguished Professor, Graduate School of Engineering福住先生

Lecture title: Research on artificial photosynthesis and its future outlook

Photosynthesis is a process through which plants convert solar energy into chemical energy. Fossil fuels are a product of photosynthesis. As a renewable energy source and an alternative to fossil fuels, artificial photosynthesis for producing solar fuel from water (by making use of solar energy) is being developed. In his lecture, he will talk about how to make hydrogen peroxide from water and oxygen as a solar fuel and its use as well. He will also talk about recent progress in artificial photosynthesis research and its future outlook.

The doors open at 5:00.

Venue:MO Hall, Convention Center, Suita campus
