Osaka University Symposium -- Transforming Making into Creating

What is it that those who excel possess? Talent, ability, learning, application, or is it zeal or a way of approaching things? What do the youth look like who will cut through the confusion of this era and become the ones the new era is calling out for?

Osaka University proposes transcending boundaries.


Part I: In the first part of this symposium, two OU professors, HIRATA Oriza and FUJITA Kikuyo, will present lectures. From outside OU, composer and shakuhachi musician NAKAMURA Akira will present a mixture, a lecture and a musical performance demonstrating his transcendent technique.

Part 2: The second part of the symposium will be a round-table discussion, emceed by MBS announcer NISHI Yasushi, between professors Hirata and Fujita and artist Nakamura.

Time & Date: Sunday, March 24, 2013 -- 1:30 ~ 6:00 p.m. (Doors open at 1:00 p.m.)

Venue: Oval Hall, Mainichi Shinbun Bldg., 3-4-5 Umeda, Kita-ku, Osaka

Capacity of Oval Hall: 450

There is no charge for admission. However, registration is required for admission. Persons aged 30 and younger will be given priority on admission.
