6th Osaka University Lectures in Bangkok-- Protecting us from Infectious Diseases

Osaka University's Bangkok Center for Education & Research, the Thailand-Japan Research Collaboration Center on Emerging and Re-emerging Infections, and the Research Institute for Microbial Diseases will hold the 6th Osaka University Lectures in Bangkok -- "Protecting us from Infectious Diseases" in Bangkok, Thailand on Saturday, October  15. This year, these lectures will be held as part of 80th anniversary of Osaka University's founding. The program for these lectures is noted below.


  • 11:30 a.m. -- Exhibition at company booths (to be held until the end of lecture meeting)
  • 1:00 p.m. -- Opening greetings
  • 1:10 p.m. -- "The Imminent Threat, Drug Resistance Bacteria -- Need-to-know Current Situations and Prevention Measures," TOMONO Kazunori, Professor, Infection Control Division, Osaka University Hospital
  • 1:50 p.m. -- "Human papillomavirus (HPV) and Cervical Cancer -- Preventing Cancer by HPV Vaccination and Regular Checkups," Dr. KANDA Tadahito, Team leader, Riken, Center of Research Network for Infectious Diseases
  • 2:30 p.m. -- Break
  • 3:00 p.m. -- "The Flu Fuss -- Lessons for the Future," KURATA Takeshi, Professor, International University of Health and Welfare, former Director of the Infectious Disease Surveillance Center
