Osaka University promotes international exchanges in a firm belief that the fruits of academic research and educational endeavors should benefit all of mankind. Towards this end, we aim to become a university where students and scholars come together, study together, and stimulate each other, thus further advancing the level of research and education. Based on the gOsaka Universityfs Global Commitment and Strategiesh that was devised and announced in December 2005, Osaka University has been directing its efforts systematically through the following three goals, to be an academic institution of global caliber open to the world community.
- To promote research collaboration with scholars and institutions overseas and share the research results for the benefit of global society;
- To promote education that fosters transcultural communicability and encourages constructive, creative action; and
- To build regional academic communities in Asia and work for human security and sustainable development
International Affairs Board is planning the implementation of concrete measures to advance the dispatch and receiving of short term exchanges, strengthen the support services for international students and scholars. These will be achieved by properly establishing task force groups for examining specific issues. In addition, the Office for International Planning and Programs (IPP) has been established under the supervision of the International Affairs Board, with the financial support from the gStrategic Fund for Establishing International Headquarters in Universities (SIH)h Project by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. The IPP acts as a Think Tank and has produced research results in various subjects as they are reported in gSekai no naka no Osaka Daigakuh (Osaka University in a global caliber).
