FrontierLab Mini ---Shorter Verison of FrontierLab@OsakaU---

"FrontierLab Mini" is a shorter version of FrontierLab@OsakaU we proudly offer to the prospective international students. This new program shares the fundamental spirit behind the creation of FrontierLab@OsakaU.

The program period of FrontierLab Mini program is shorter than 12 weeks. Like regular FrontierLab@OsakaU program, it is designed for international students who seek a challenging, short-term upgrading of vital research and analytical skills by providing them with opportunities to learn in the communities of research practice with emphasis on hands-on laboratory experience.

The important difference between the two programs is unlike FrontierLab@OsakaU, application and admission need to be approved and pre-arranged by supervising professors at Osaka University. Most typically, a program of between 2 to 12 weeks is organized by host scientist(s) of Osaka University to accommodate students and young scholars from overseas laboratories and institutions that undertake collaborative research and education activities, or by the agreement of Osaka University’s science and engineering faculty and their overseas counterparts.

Tuition fee for FrontierLab Mini has to be paid by students in accordance with the number of credits to be awarded at Osaka University. Limited tuition waiver arrangement may be applicable for Osaka University's partner institutions for the 10 and 12-week plans.

A Blend of Tradition and Innovation
The FrontierLab Program reflects the tradition of Osaka University, which has long been recognized for its world-class research output and quality training for up-and-coming researchers. This is achieved in myriad ways but most recognizably in a sustained commitment to the integration of basic science with applied fields of study and the early introduction of laboratory experience so as to nurture the spirit of invention and breakthrough. The Japanese tradition of `mono zukuri' or the `spirit of creation' is still very much alive in the frontier research laboratories.
