Soliciting Osaka University Faculty or Staff for Side Jobs
Full-time faculty and staff of Osaka University (referred to as "faculty and staff" hereafter) are obligated to devote themselves to their jobs as described in Rules of Employment. However, they are allowed to accept outside work if they get approval from the University in accordance with standards stipulated in the Regulations on Side Jobs for Faculty and Staff at Osaka University.
National universities were incorporated in April 2004. Since then, businesses soliciting faculty and staff to do a side job have been required to apply using a specified form -- "1. Form for Requesting Faculty or Staff for a Side Job (Application Form & Permit)"
Prior to its incorporation, the University sent a written reply of permission to a businesses soliciting faculty or staff members for side jobs, but it has made it a rule not to send such a document in principle after its incorporation. If a business soliciting a faculty or staff member needs a written reply, they should submit an application form along with a self-addressed return envelope.
Last but not least, faculty and staff of the University are not allowed to accept side jobs without permission. We would once again like to ask businesses to follow the specified procedures for making such a request.
