International Education through Global 30
Osaka University was selected as one of the 13 core universities implementing the Project for Establishing Core Universities for Internationalization (Global 30) in 2009. The G30 program aims to nurture superior personnel who can play an active role in the global arena in environments supportive of their growth, in friendly competition by establishing a system at each G30 university in Japan to provide courses and degree programs conducted in English. Additionally, G30 aims to improve the system for accepting international students, and promote international cooperation.
Osaka University aims to double the number of its international students (currently 1,608) to 3,000 by 2020, the target year for G30.
- At the undergraduate level: a Chemistry-Biology Combined Major Program to study basics of chemistry and biology as well as bio-chemistry. In the Human Sciences Undergraduate Degree Program one learns about modern Japan and roles of global citizens.
In order to implement programs at the undergraduate level, Osaka University set up an "International College" in August 2010.
