Unique Aspects

Improvement of Shibahara-guchi Gate

Financed by the Fund for Developing Street Beautification from Osaka Prefecture, the restoration and beautification of Osaka University's Shibahara-guchi Gate was achieved, following input from local citizens, using  trees donated by Toyonaka City. This portion of the Osaka University Campus Master Plan to make its campuses more attractive for OU staff and students as well as for members of the local communities was achieved in collaboration with members from the local community.

The project was designed so as to increase the convenience for students, faculty and staff members using the road from the Osaka Monorail Shibahara Station to the Shibahara-guchi Gate and to also make the campus more accessible to members of the local community as well. The improved and beautified Shibahara-guchi Gate has become a hallmark of Osaka University along with the Main Gate and Ishibashi Gate.

Osaka University hopes this beautification will be a stepping stone for further cooperation between the university and the local community.
