Live Locally, Grow Globally

Unique Aspects

Ebisu Otoko @ Handai Slope

The "Handai* Slope" connects the university to the Ishibashi district. It is a 300 meter long slope separating, psychologically and physically, the local community and the Toyonaka Campus. Ebisu Otoko @ Handai Slope, a race up this slope, was started for the purpose of giving local people a sense of familiarity with and connection to the Handai Slope and to publicize the slope as a "bridge" from their community to the university.

* "Handai" is the Japanese nickname for Osaka University.
