The lecturer in this 16th Future Talks is Ryoji NOYORI, Director, RIKEN.

Wanting to be a scientist like Dr. Hideki YUKAWA, Japan's first Nobel Prize laureate, Dr. Noyori launched his career as a scientist. A chemist, he was also awarded a Nobel Prize in 2001. The leader of a research organization, he keeps asking what is the true essence of things, what must we do, and pursuing his course. Dr. Noyori will talk about the challenges facing science, technology, and the scientific community in this era.

All persons connected with OU as well as members of the general public are cordially invited to attend. Text interpreting services and wheelchair viewing areas are available at the Convention Center, Suita campus.
Please let us know if you need special needs for participating in this event.
Advance registration is not necessary. There is no charge for attending these events. Seating is granted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Lecture title: Where are science and technology going?

Science possesses universal significance for humans. The accumulation of invaluable scientific discoveries has given people an eye-opening perspective on nature and of life. The development of new technologies based on scientific knowledge has created great social and economic value, making possible an affluent civilization. And now, the scientific community is being strongly pressed to solve the problem of how the human race will continue in the face of an earth with limited boundaries.

Date & Time: Friday, January 23, 5:00 ~ 6:30 p.m.
The doors open at 4:30.
Venue: Convention Center, Suita campus

In addition to the main venue for this event, additional rooms noted below will be made available for viewing the lecture on closed circuit TV.
