Lab Café featuring Railway Art Festival - "Challenges of Chim↑Pom, Maverick Artists"

2016-12-10 (Sat) 16:00 - 18:00

Chim↑Pom is an artist troupe that continues to send strong social messages that interfere with modern society. In this Café, we'll discuss challenges to morals and excessive regulations unique to Japan, or "invisible social structures," while focusing on the large scale private exhibit held in a building in Kabukicho, which is scheduled to be demolished.

What is Lab Café?

A major program instituted at Art Area B1, "Lab Café" is designed and implemented by the Center for the Study of Communication-Design. Lab Café is an interactive program in which participants have wide-ranging discussions on a variety of topics. The program aims to make the station a communication space in the arts and academia by taking up various themes in philosophy, art, science and technology and providing the general public with chances to be exposed to expertise on those topics.

What is Art Area B1?

The concourse of the first basement of Naniwabashi Station was set up as Art Area B1 when the Keihan Electric Railway's Nakanoshima Line was opened on October 19, 2008. Since then, the project has aimed to make the station a center of artistic communication.
