Knowledge Capital Super School #3: "How to Make a Place Where Learning is 'Born'"

2016-12-14 (Wed) 19:00 - 20:30

The Center for the Study of CO* Design and Knowledge Capital will hold the 3rd session of their "Creating a 'University' of the Future through Discussion" series entitled "How to Make a Place Where Learning is 'Born.'"

When we learn something, at what kind of place are we doing this learning? What kind of interactions are born there?

Taking the stage for this session are Ms. KOTAKE Megumi and Ms. OGASAWARA Mai, two childcare entrepreneurs who work to connect adults and children as well as childcare and society, beyond facilities and time.

Also joining us is Professor IKEDA Mitsuho, a cultural anthropologist who is currently researching individuals working in clinical situations such as healthcare and welfare, as well as "workplace skills."

We'll discuss the role of the "place of learning" required of universities moving forward.

Lecturers (discussion members):

IKEDA Mitsuho (Professor/Vice Director, Center for the Study of CO* Design, Osaka University)

Prof. IKEDA's field of study is cultural anthropology done in the field in Central America (particularly medical anthropology). He has performed research on cultural anthropological understanding of pluralistic medical systems from his experience as a volunteer in international health cooperation. In addition to the research on communication design to which he has dedicated himself for the past 10 years, he is also pursuing the possibility of what he has called "Canisology," or the study of how dogs would see anthropological research.

KOTAKE Megumi, OGASAWARA Mai (Representatives, Kodomo Mirai Tankyusha)

In 2013, Kodomo Mirai Tankyusha was established to carry out production development, human resource education, space design, and marketing based on things and people that are good for children. In order to serve the purpose of connecting child raising and society, Kodomo Mirai Tankyusha is always undergoing new challenges with the aim of resolving problems related to children. Ms. Kotake is also a representative director of Otona-No-Senaka, while Ms. Ogasawara is a representative of asobi kichi ("play base").
