Summer camp for high school students -- Future Global Leaders Camp (FGLC)

Osaka University's Osaka School of International Public Policy is holding a seminar camp for high school students. This event aims to help high school students who want to be active on the world stage to expand their possibilities.

To All High School Students


Osaka University's Osaka School of International Public Policy will hold hold a seminar camp for senior high school students in order to nurture their international-mindedness so that they can exercise their leadership on the international scene. Let's learn about international issues together with high school students from across the nation! We look forward to seeing you there!

 

Outline of the Seminar Camp

Intended for: Senior High School Students
Date & Time: Sunday, August 9, 2015 ~ Tuesday, August 11
Participants must participate in the entire schedule for the program.
Venue: OSIPP Building, Toyonaka campus, Osaka University

Where to stay: Senri Hankyu Hotel
Participation fee: about 30,000 yen (accommodation fee: 15,000 yen + Participation fee: 15,000 yen)
Quota: 35
In the event we receive more applications than seats available, attendees will be chosen by screening.

2. Status of their application
As soon as successful applicants are chosen on Thursday, July 10, all those applying will be informed regarding the status of their application and information about their hotel by postcard or email.
3. Hotel reservation
Once your participation is confirmed, please reserve a hotel room. When booking, please inform the hotel that you would like to book a room for the Future Global Leaders Camp. Please pay your  accommodation fee.
4. Payment of participation fee
As soon as participants are chosen, you will be informed of the details about the bank account to which you should transfer payment.
5. Travel expense and insurance
Participants are requested to come to Osaka University and take out insurance at their or their high school's own expense.
6. Essays for primary screening
Participants are requested to submit an essay. For more information, see below. Please submit an essay with application form by Thursday, July 2.
7. Assignment
Successful applicants are requested to complete an assignment. Details about the assignment will be informed with the status of their application.

Essay for primary screening

Choose one topic from the following themes and write your ideas about it. (1,500 characters or more in Japanese.)
Make sure to use a diagram in your essay. In the event we receive more applications than seats available, attendees will be chosen by screening.

  1. What can Japan do for problems the world faces?
  2. Choose the country where you want to study and write about what you want to do there.
  3. Regarding nations that Japan should emulate and policies that Japan should incorporate
  4. Globalization that you feel in your daily life
  5. Your own theme regarding international issues or globalization

Submission deadline: Thursday, July 2
How to submit
Send the essay with your application form by email, fax, or postal mail. Please include your name, the name of your school, and the number of the theme of your choice.
