Lab Café and Dementia Café -- Discussing the Possibilities of Eating with a Dentist

2015-3-22 (Sun) 14:00 - 16:00

The joy of eating is something that we cannot live without. However, the "eating" that we find at the root of our survival can occasionally cause trouble for those with dementia. In these cases, it's important to carefully create care foods that respond to the situation at hand. For this café, we'll sample some of these care foods and discuss what it means to "eat" with a dentist and mouth specialist.

What is Lab Café?

A major program instituted at Art Area B1, "Lab Café" is designed and implemented by the Center for the Study of Communication-Design. Lab Café is an interactive program in which participants have wide-ranging discussions on a variety of topics. The program aims to make the station a communication space in the arts and academia by taking up various themes in philosophy, art, science and technology and providing the general public with chances to be exposed to expertise on those topics.

What is Art Area B1?

The concourse of the first basement of Naniwabashi Station was set up as Art Area B1 when the Keihan Electric Railway's Nakanoshima Line was opened on October 19, 2008. Since then, the project has aimed to make the station a center of artistic communication.
