Kaitokudo for the 21st Century, Osaka University i-spot Lecture -- "Is this okay?" Raising and Educating Children in an Unequal Society

2015-3-13 (Fri) 18:30 - 20:00

Osaka University and Osaka City have been working together to provide citizens with small lectures in an "at home" atmosphere. Making use of its wide range of academic fields, Osaka University promotes the sharing of its learning with citizens, thereby contributing to the revitalization of local communities. The themes for these two i-spot lecture series are "Fragility of Today's Society" and "Inquiry into the Subconscious." It's free to attend, so please don't hesitate to join us!

Lecture: "Is this okay?" Raising and Educating Children in an Unequal Society, MAEBA Yusaku (Graduate School of Human Sciences, Osaka University)

Lecture Overview:

In a society labeled as "unequal" by many, parents these days face many new challenges in raising and educating their children. For example, parents are being held more responsible for raising and education of their children and the bonds that tie people together have grown weaker. What effect is this having on the growth of our children? In this lecture, we'll look at some different examples while examining how to improve the current state of child rearing and education. (Part of this research has received a science grant (No. 21330192).)
