Osaka University & Osaka Gas -- Academic Cooking, Vol. 47: "Preventing food poisoning with correct understanding -- Food poisoning topics"

Kaitokudo for the 21st Century and Osaka Gas have jointly been holding a series of unique lectures on a particular food followed by the cooking and eating that food. The lecturer of this 47th "volume" in the Academic Cooking series is KODAMA Toshio, Associate Professor, Research Institute for Microbial Diseases, Osaka University. Don't miss out this time!

The sticky season has once again come. Both humidity and temperatures will rise as the rainy season blends into summer. Indeed, the coming season can be referred to as the season of food poisoning. Even now in Japan, reputably a clean and sanitary country, quite a fuss is made about food poisoning. In fact, the term "food poisoning" has become a common everyday word, familiar to almost everyone.

So, what exactly is food poisoning? Actually, it can be pretty difficult to give an accurate explanation of what food poisoning is. What is its source and what causes the poisoning of the food to occur? Also, what steps should one take to prevent food poisoning from occurring?

The shortest route to preventing food poisoning is for each of us to be aware of the danger of food poisoning and to take steps to prevent it based on correct understanding. So, join us and get a "knowledge vaccine" that will protect you from food poisoning!

Participants will prepare the following foods: "A meal for Early Summer" -- sushi rice with a variety of ingredients (grilled horse mackerel, ginger, etc.) sprinkled on top; Chinese yam and cucumber salad with plum dressing; cooked pears served with green tea syrup.

Participation fee: ¥2,100 (sales tax included)
