Symposium open to the public: "Future Medical Treatment made possible by Immunology Research"

Regarding the topic of "Comprehensive understanding of immune dynamism: towards manipulation of immune responses" of the Funding Program for World-Leading Innovative R&D on Science and Technology (AKIRA Project, FIRST Program) of the [Japanese government's] "Innovative Research and Development Support Program," a symposium open to medical treatment and care practitioners as well as the general public is being held in Tokyo. The symposium is entitled "Future Medical Treatment made possible by Immunology Research" and will be held on Saturday, February 1st.

This symposium will present research results from the past 4 years of the Akira Project FIRST Program, results portending particularly innovative treatments for the future. A lecture will also be presented by Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. on examples of practical use of antibody medicines and the prospects for new drug development.

Furthermore, a "Talk Session" will be held in which persons --researchers, medical practitioners, and business persons-- will explore and discuss from a variety of viewpoints the topic "Future Medical Treatment made possible by Immunology Research."
