Symposium open to the Public: "The Outlook for South Sudan"

2014-1-11 (Sat) 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Three years have passed since a referendum was held in the Southern Sudan Region, resulting in the formation --2½ years ago-- of an independent republic, South Sudan. During those years what has changed and what has not changed in South Sudan? In this symposium, researchers and NGO staff taking part in support activities will report on the current situation in South Sudan and the challenges being faced.

In the panel discussion that follows the initial presentations, persons representing Japanese civil society and government organizations as well as researchers will debate how Japan can participate in future development in South Sudan, whether support will end, and how support should be provided to an area riven by long-term conflict.

This symposium will be conducted in Japanese. Consequently, for additional specific information regarding the program, speakers, etc., please view the Japanese version of this page.
